"Khadijah completed my Full Circle Doula Training in April 2017 in Portland, Oregon through the International Center for Childbearing (ICTC) with Shafia Monroe. Khadijah also received Lactation training from Bastyr University in 2018 and disability training as a Fellow in the (UW LEND) Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities program at the University of Washington. The UW LEND program is a graduate level training program which prepares health professionals for a leadership role in providing care for children and youth with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families. These leaders assure the continued development of a comprehensive system that serves the needs of the children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families, through systems advocacy and public policy. I completed my fellowship in the UW LEND program in 2010. As a continuum of my training, I have served various organizations in different capacities throughout King County, with primary focus on advocating for the rights of individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness (ages birth to 21) and their families. I have ten years of experience professionally supporting parents and caregivers who have children with and without special health conditions.look forward to learning from you and sharing the wealth of knowledge I’ve gained through my professional training, travels abroad, and raising my own children for the past twenty years. An integral part of my work as a woman of African descent is to provide trauma informed care that is culturally responsive and affirms the lived experiences of POC and other marginalized groups. As a doula, I am committed to honoring your culture and traditions, learning styles, and the individual & collective experiences of your family. My goal is to support your intuition as parents and empower you with confidence in your new role. I look forward to working with you; and learning more about the things that are meaningful to you and your new family. I hope to provide postpartum care that reflects your values, and allows you the freedom to relax, so you can focus on recovering and strengthening your bond with your new baby, extended family and broader community."
