I lived at the Mercer Crest for a year -- the longest year of my life. I moved in because I liked the location in lower Queen Anne and my apartment had a great view of the sound. But the management is terrible. The manager, Brian, or his maintenance man would enter my place without notice, including once when I was at home. Brian rang the doorbell then immediately used his key to come in to show the place to four people -- while I was half-dressed. Awkward. The building is dirty and the railings on the stairs aren't up to code. My toddler niece could easily walk right under the railing and fall from the third story. When I brought this to Brian's attention, he said "They're fine, they've been that way for 50 years." Um, exactly, dude. Toss in some lead paint and asbestos and you'll really be in business. I had dozens of little inconveniences during my year there. I had to wait four months to get a copy of my lease, simply because I couldn't get Brian to send it. When they changed the locks on the security door, I was given a key that didn't work and was locked out. The building is very noisy, especially on weekend nights, with people fighting, partying, and slamming doors. There was a final insult when I moved out. I was charged for a tear in the carpet that was there when I moved in -- even though the entire carpet was replaced after I left. It was the worst place I've ever lived. Stay away!
