My 15 month old fell from the staircase and had a deep cut on the forhead, nose and upper lips. Being new to the area, we didnt know of any other hospital and rushed to chestnut. The frontdesk lady first looked annoyed that we turned up without the appointment. After explaining her twice that it was an emergency, she started the registration process. Later a nurse came into the waiting room to take the family history and other details. She spent nearly 10 min with us but made no attempt to provide first aid or even clean the wound. After waiting for 45 min, the response which we got is the doctor needs to come and she is busy with appointments. The blood on my baby's face had dried and was sticking all over. We could have waited but I was more concerned about my baby uncleaned wound was scared that he would develop an infection. So we left . The receptionist was least bothered . My question is very simple, didnt we deserved atleast the basic first aid i.e. cleaning of the wound with some antiseptic. How difficult is that? I guess the people there are too process oriented and have forgotten the basic of medicine. An unhappy customer.
