The LSUHSC Neuropsychology Assessment Service provides comprehensive clinical and clinical neuropsychological consultation and evaluation services that integrate research-based knowledge with state-of-the art clinical assessment tools. Neuropsychological evaluation assesses a patients' cognitive and psychological abilities, as well as the validity of reported and noted impairments, and assists with differential diagnosis and appropriate treatment planning. Neuropsychological evaluation is also useful in separating cognitive / organically-based deficits from psychological / psychogenic impairments. We frequently see individuals who manifest problems with attention, memory, judgement and reasoning, emotional functioning, personality, chronic pain, and other cognitive and psychological difficulties.
