Retina Consultants of Miami provides compassionate care for patients with retinal diseases of all types at its Coral Gables office in Miami, Florida. Experienced board-certified medical and surgical retina specialist J. Daniel Diaz, MD, is committed to advancing clinical medicine and constantly strives to stay at the forefront of treatment innovations to better serve his patients.

Retina Consultants of Miami treats the full spectrum of  eye disorders  in the back part of the eye, including macular degeneration, retinal detachment, retinal tears, retinal vein occlusions, and other retinal and vitreous disorders.

A Miami native, Dr. Diaz completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Miami. Dr. Diaz then pursued medical training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. 

While in medical school, he was awarded a Global Health Research Fellowship and inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. During his research fellowship, Dr. Diaz conducted studies at the Aravind Eye Hospital and L.V. Prasad Eye Institute in India as well as the Sancti Spiritus Provincial Ophthalmology Center in Cuba. After earning his MD with Distinction in Research, Dr. Diaz completed his medical internship and residency at the Harvard Medical School affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He returned home to complete his sub-specialty training in vitreoretinal disease and surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the top ranked eye hospital in the United States.
