Dr. Deng earned her medical and doctoral degrees at Zhongshan University (Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences) in Guangzhou, China. She was among the first reproductive endocrinologists to employ preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) in practice, achieving China’s first clinical PGD pregnancy for patients affected by alpha-thalassemia. After relocating to the United States, Dr. Deng became a research fellow at the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), part of the Bioengineering Department at the University of California in San Diego. She then completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Wayne State University’s Detroit Medical Center in Michigan and then a maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) fellowship at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. She also completed a reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at Stanford Reproductive & Fertility Health in Sunnyvale, California.
