Dr. Serguei Abel Castaneda, MD

Serguei Castaneda, M.D., is a board-certified radiation oncologist with Baptist Health. He specializes in cutting-edge radiation therapies including pencil beam scanning, electron therapy, brachytherapy and GammaKnife. He is fluent in English and Spanish.

Before joining Baptist Health in 2022, Dr. Castaneda served as a locum tenens radiation oncologist for the Hillman Cancer Center at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Dr. Castaneda completed his radiation oncology residency at Hahnemann University Hospital – Drexel University College of Medicine. During this time, he served as the radiation oncology chief resident from 2017 to 2018. He also completed an internal medicine residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Through his extensive training and passion for research, Dr. Castaneda has won numerous grants and scholarships, including the Global Radiation Oncology Workforce (GROW) scholarship through the American College of Radiation Oncology. His work has been published in over 20 journals and two books.

As a researcher, doctor and teacher, Dr. Castaneda strives to bring high-quality advanced therapies to his patients.

In his free time, Dr. Castaneda enjoys biking and trying new restaurants.
