Steven Weiss

Steven J. Weiss, MD, FACAAI, FAAAAI, specializes in chronic sinus disease, difficult-to-control bronchial asthma, and drug allergy. Dr. Weiss's expertise includes treatment for drug reactions from medications, including those associated with chemotherapy medications. He is Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, and he is Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark.<br />

Dr. Weiss is Section Chief of Allergy and Immunology in the Division of Internal Medicine and an attending physician in the Department of Medicine at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. Dr. Weiss is a consultant in allergy and immunology at the Veterans Administration New Jersey Health Care System Department of Ambulatory Care in East Orange. He has been an attending physician in the Department of Medicine at St. Luke's - Roosevelt Hospital Center and he has been an assistant attending physician in the Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, both New York City.<br />

"Choosing the specialty of allergy and immunology involved multiple factors," says Dr. Weiss. "For example, my father was an allergist. Seeing him help his patients greatly influenced me. In addition, I like unraveling mysteries — a challenge I enjoy as an allergist." He adds, "It's gratifying to improve the quality of the life for each of my patients through effective communication and understanding him or her as a whole person."<br />

Dr. Weiss is Past President of the New York Allergy and Asthma Society. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He is a member of the American Medical Association and New Jersey Allergy and Asthma Society. Dr. Weiss is the coauthor of articles, abstracts, and monographs on topics in his field, some of which are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals such as Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He has been featured in Castle Connolly "Top Doctors in the New York Metro Area" as well as New York Magazine and New Jersey Monthly "Top Doctors" listings.<br />

When he is not working with his patients, Dr. Weiss enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, and engaging in outdoor activities such as hiking and traveling on active vacations.
