Ruth Deitz

In addition to her position at Summit Health, Ruth Deitz, MD, has been Assistant Director of the Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) Mountainside Family Medicine Residency program in Montclair, New Jersey. Dr. Deitz is Former Director of Prenatal Services and Director of Recruitment for the HUMC Mountainside Family Medicine Residency program. She is Former Assistant Director and a faculty member for the JFK Family Medicine Residency program in Edison, New Jersey. Before coming to New Jersey, Dr. Deitz was Medical Director and practiced family medicine at Fairview Uptown Clinic in Minneapolis, Minnesota. With special interest in women's health, Dr. Deitz performs gynecologic procedures along with practicing full range of family medicine.<br />

Dr. Deitz says, "I want patients to feel confident that they have a doctor who collaborates with them to decide the best course of action for their health. Family Medicine was the perfect career for me because I enjoy knowing my patients in the context of their whole lives. Overseeing the health of everyone in a family is especially rewarding."<br />

During a year abroad, Dr. Deitz volunteered with Physicians for Human Rights in Jerusalem, Israel.<br />

When she is not working with her patients, Dr. Deitz enjoys running, hiking, canoeing, music, and spending time with her children.
