Axis Psychiatry is a premier adult psychiatry practice located in Las Vegas, Nevada, led by Adult Psychiatrist and Practice President Uzma Zafar, MD. Dr. Zafar has nearly two decades of experience in private practice, helping patients restore their mental health and quality of life.
Dr. Zafar and her team treat patients with dementia, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), schizophrenia, dementia, and numerous other mental health problems. Her compassionate, personable demeanor makes patients feel at ease during their appointments. 
Axis Psychiatry providers use medication management and psychotherapy during treatments. They specialize in the biopsychosocial model — an interdisciplinary approach that examines the connection between psychology, biology, and social aspects of mental health.
Dr. Zafar maintains her psychiatry credentials, including her board-certifications, to stay up to date on the latest advances in mental health treatments. She presently holds certifications from the American Board of Psychology and Neurology and the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).  
Throughout her career, Dr. Zafar has been recognized for her meticulous attention to detail and medical expertise. For example, while attending the University of Missouri, she was awarded the role of Chief Resident. Since 2012, Dr. Zafar has served as a consultant psychiatrist for Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas. She's also served as the director of the hospital's geropsychology unit since 2018. 
Dr. Zafar has also conducted vital research on the subjects of anxiety disorders and hypochondriasis, in addition to gambling and compulsive disorders. She's authored several publications on various mental health subjects alongside some of the leading experts in her field.
