Dr. Benjamin Shadle, founder of the Sacramento Bariatric and Metabolic Institute, is a skilled minimally invasive bariatric surgeon dedicated to giving cutting edge, excellent, and compassionate surgical care. Dr. Ruby Gatschet has recently joined the bariatric care team at the Sacramento Bariatric and Metabolic Institute. Both Dr. Shadle and Dr. Gatschet are passionate about helping their patients get back to truly living life.

Drs. Shadle and Gatschet are board certified by the American Board of Surgery, and both fellowship trained in bariatric surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Shadle and Dr. Gatschet perform all bariatric procedures (the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, vertical sleeve gastrectomy, and adjustable gastric banding) as well as revisional surgeries laparoscopically. The Sacramento Bariatric and Metabolic Institute boasts a comprehensive bariatric program that includes pre- and postoperative nutritional counseling for patients and their families, as well as support groups, and life-long follow up. There is no program fee for bariatric surgery at the Sacramento Bariatric and Metabolic Institute and most insurance plans are accepted. Dr. Shadle, Dr. Gatschet and the bariatric care team serve patients throughout Northern California including patients living in Sacramento, Roseville, Rocklin, Loomis, Elk Grove, Folsom, Davis, Lodi, and as far north as Chico and Redding. To better serve our patients, we have care centers in Sacramento, Roseville, and Davis.
