History

Walsh Woodard LLC traces its history to 1949 under its former name, Moukawsher & Walsh, LLC, when its founding partner, Joseph Moukawsher, first opened the firm. After graduating from Wesleyan University and completing his military service during World War II, Mr. Moukawsher attended Harvard Law School and thereafter began the practice of law in Groton, Connecticut. Joseph Moukawsher continued practicing law for fifty-six years until his death in December of 2006.

In 1996, Michael J. Walsh, then a litigation partner at another Hartford law firm, joined the firm and the name was changed to Moukawsher & Walsh, LLC. At that juncture, the firm opened up its Hartford office and currently maintains offices in West Hartford and Groton, Connecticut.

In 2001, Lincoln Woodard joined the firm and became partner in 2003. In 2012, the firm moved its office from downtown Hartford to its current West Hartford location. In 2013, Attorney Thomas Moukawsher, Joseph’s son, was appointed to the Connecticut Superior Court Bench, where he continues to serve our state. In 2014, we changed our name to Walsh Woodard LLC.

The firm practices civil and appellate litigation, representing individuals who suffer personal injury or financial harm from negligence, medical malpractice, legal malpractice and the wrongful denial of long term disability insurance.
