It wasn't until the middle of the 16th century that Kirman rugs began to be more widely recognised, this was because of their 'Vase Carpets' as vase motifs were woven into their rugs and carpets. By the turn of the 19th century Kirman rugs, or antique Kirman rugs as we know them today, were being produced in far greater numbers. These rugs are still seen as some of the best ever Persian examples of rug ever made.
