If you only have one or two better items, chances are the auction will not agree to a sliding scale but will insist on the standard rate right across the board. It is possible that the auction house will only break even, or even lose money, on some of the lower end items in your consignment. The mid-range items will realize a profit for them but they are hoping to make up any possible losses on the few better pieces.
