Michael Higdon: Allstate Insurance

Insurance has always been part of my life. My dad started in the business in 1979 with an office in Albertville and another here in Huntsville. I initially took a different path, though, declaring a biomedical sciences major when I entered Auburn University. When I realized the great opportunity my dad had, I added on a business minor and began work for him after graduation. In 2006, I purchased my own agency in Guntersville, and I bought my dad’s offices in 2012 so he could retire. I then bought a fourth agency in Arab in 2014.

I stay busy, but I always take time to help our community and our staff. We’re members of the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce, the Marshall Young Professionals and the Huntsville chapter of Business Network International. We support The Ogden House and Hospice of Marshall County, and we also offer staff a week’s paid time off to go on a mission trip — because when our community is healthy and our team is happy, the customers will be, too.
