I am Mary Lynn Rote, Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Addictions Counselor – owner of ABC’s of Building Better Lives, LLC. We are an outpatient private counseling practice located at 4320 Dexter Avenue, Erie, PA 16504 – (one of the few counseling practices on Erie’s Eastside). We have created a tasteful, confidential, holistic counseling practice where clients feel safe, comfortable and encouraged to realize their individual counseling goals.

Myself and 3 other clinicians work out of this office – Joe Sarbak, Darcey Locke and Charen Pasky. All of us are seasoned professionals who have extensive experience working with clients who have diagnoses within the DSM-IVR. We primarily utilize a Cognitive-Behavioral therapeutic approach and supplement this with others – RET, TA, DBT, Gestalt, Behavioral, Reality therapy, Family Systems, and EMDR. We also provide group therapy on a variety of topics. We primarily work with ages 6-elderly.

We specialize in Couples/Marital therapy, Addictions/Recovery, Adult Children of Alcoholics/other unhealthy upbringing dynamics, Mood and Anxiety disorders, Diversity and Sexual Orientation related issues, Stress and Anger Management, Drug and Alcohol Evaluations/Assessments, 12 Step Recovery, Chronic Mental Illness, CoDependency, Grief/Loss, Spirituality related issues, Adjustment Disorders, Communication related – Assertiveness training/Boundaries, Veterans related trauma/stressors, Trauma, etc.

I have been trained in EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which can be very effective to help those who have suffered traumatic events. I also teach Yoga classes at our practice. Overall, we are a holistic, comprehensive counseling practice that focuses on the whole person – encouraging health and wellness in all of the client’s life areas.

We accept most Major Insurances, Medicare, Tricare and PA Access. We also provide a sliding fee scale for those who do not have insurance. We are accepting new patient referrals and usually can schedule a new client within 1 week of their initial call.
