She attended graduate school on scholarship at McGill University where she received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology in 1978. When she came from Montreal to Winnipeg, she spent 10 years working as an Assistant/Associate Professor for the Deparments of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of Manitoba.
