I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist and Psychoanalyst providing psychiatric evaluation and treatment with an emotionally engaged psychodynamic approach.  I think the best care for my patients involves close listening and a careful and collaborative search for understanding of complex internal issues.  
​I believe listening - and being truly heard - is one of the most powerful therapeutic experiences.  We are social beings, and if we have become isolated, or feel misunderstood, we suffer deeply.  I bring a high level of attentiveness to my work as a psychiatrist that provides the crucial foundation on which true growth and change can occur.  I want to hear your story, to understand how your suffering, whatever its form, has come to be in the present day.
While my training is rooted in the medical specialty of psychiatry, I have built significantly from that rigorous starting point.  I pursued psychoanalytic training out of a strong conviction that I would help people best through providing in-depth psychodynamic psychotherapy or psychoanalysis, with medication treatment when indicated.

I attended medical school at University of Vermont and completed my residency in adult psychiatry at George Washington University in Washington, DC. I am board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and serve as an active member of the American Psychoanalytic Association.
