A Horrible Experience
My husband and I rented a two bedroom townhouse off campus from Property Mart. We looked in April for something to rent starting in August. We found the place we liked but there were some major repairs needed to the place, which they promised us would be fixed before we moved in. When we arrived August 1st, NOTHING had been fixed and it was filthy dirty. They sent a cleaning woman over to told us it looked cleaned to her and she left. We had to clean everything from top to bottom before we moved anything in. The doors had what looked like Coke all over almost every door. The ceiling in the living room was rotten where the previous tenants had a mishap with the washing machine upstairs that had flooded. The ceiling was literally buckling. The front windows above the sink were falling out due to rotten wood that has clearly been there for a LONG time. These weren't new repairs, these were things that needed to be fixed loooooong ago. I have yet to meet more unscrupulous people than the women at the Property Mart. What a nightmare it has been renting from them. They must take an incompetency exam to work there. Where to begin with the idiocy that is dealing with these idiots.

Don't look for any repairs to be done.....
I've been in one of Property Marts apartments since June (It is now November...) and we had to call 4 times to get the dishwasher fixed. Everytime we called, they sent a repairman out that kept saying, This needs to be replaced because we don't have the parts to fix it. The model was from the EARLY 80's, a model that they no longer make parts for! Finally, after five times of repair with no success, we got a new dishwasher.

Property Mart is Horrible!
Property Mart is a horrible management group. They signed three different people for the place I leased, moved me somewhere else. They do not require a criminal/ background/credit check, so expect to live next to drug dealers, 15-person families, b/c I have. And when neighbors shoot guns outside, I call the police, Property Mart will turned a blind eye to the problem. They will lie to you, put you on hold for ten minutes when you call for service, and then play the we have to talk to the owners, we'll call you back game, in which they NEVER call you back. I called them back each time, and got the same game, over and over. They will bully you into resigning a lease, pretending or trying to sell the unit with you inside, showing it off without a 24-hour notice. And someone nearby had their things stolen by Property Mart- the you haven't paid your rent game when its been paid, walking in to find all your stuff is gone.

The owner of my unit then rented it out through Property Mart. The first thing they did was raise my rent $50 because I had a bigger unit and only the smaller end units could be had for the price I was paying. They quoted me an initial fee for getting a pet, so I got one, and came in to pay for my pet and found out it was three times the quoted fee. I had a dryer from the 1980s that they refused to fix or get rid of until it finally set itself on fire and started smoking after I had complained NUMEROUS times about the danger of this ancient appliance. I had roach issues the entire time I lived there. The lawn maintenance guy keyed my car after I yelled at him for blowing rocks into it, and noone at Property Mart seemed to care. He continued to work there for the remaining three years.
