Dr. Kendig is a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry. After completing his degree, Dr. Kendig completed a General Practice Residency program at City Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
He then joined the Department of Children's Dentistry at the Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry as an Instructor in the undergraduate dental program. After discovering a passion for Children's Dentistry, he completed the Graduate program in Pediatric Dentistry at MCV.
In 1982 he opened his office in the far Westend of Richmond, but continued to teach on a part time basis in the Pediatric Dental Clinic.
Dr. Kendig is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Richmond Dental Society, SE Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Virginia Society of Pediatric Dentistry Omicron Kappa and held offices in several of these organizations.
