If you want to have fun and get some exercise, you'll be happy here. If you want a feel good about yourself black belt, then this is an okay place to go. What I wanted was an authentic black belt and to defend myself if I am ever attacked. What I wanted and what ATA offered did not match up. Hind sight is always 20/20. I realize now that I did not have to work that hard at ATA. I know this now because I have visited other Tae Kwon Do studios and have gotten my clock cleaned. At ATA I learned some pretty forms, not the stuff I can apply in a fight. I should have seen the red flags when I saw all these higher belted kids around. I did pay a huge amount of money for that feel good belt. Was it worth it to me? No. BTW, I saw kids drinking soda too.

I was really disappointed in the quality of training my son received for the money invested. There was a limit on the number of classes I could enroll my son and if i wanted him to go more or he wanted to we would have had to pay a lot more. They passed my son even if he couldn't remember the forms. I always believed that martial arts was supposed to teach discipline, patience, and that hard work paid off. Coffrin's on the surface has it with the structure but to give belts away if they weren't earned rubbed me the wrong way. I wanted my son to learn how to fight and defend himself not learn how to dance. Was there exercise at Coffrin's? Yes, but it was more dance oriented than martial arts oriented. Maybe rename the place Coffrin's ATA Tae Kwon Dance Studio.... They brag about being family oriented, but after going there for over a year, I do not know a single other parent there. Kids run around chugging soda sold there - how is that health-oriented? I wish I had entered with my eyes wide open and looked around; not been taken by a slick sales speech. I learned a very expensive lesson. Just because it costs a lot doesn't necessarily equal quality.
