Karen Zaghiyan , MD, FACS, FASCRS

Karen Zaghiyan, MD, FACS, FASCRS, is an experienced proctologist double board-certified in colorectal and general surgery. At her Los Angeles County practice in West Hollywood, California, Dr. Zaghiyan specializes in surgical and nonsurgical treatments for conditions affecting the colon, rectum, and anus. She also has a special interest in colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and is committed to improving patient care through minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic, single incision, and natural orifice surgery.
Dr. Zaghiyan graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of California, Los Angeles. She then completed medical school at the University of California San Diego before pursuing her general surgery residency at the prestigious Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. 
As part of her training, Dr. Zaghiyan spent time as a clinical research scholar investigating surgical outcomes in IBD. After completing her general surgery training, Dr. Zaghiyan went on to finish a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery with advanced training in laparoscopic, single incision, and robotic techniques. Dr. Zaghiyan also traveled to Singapore for additional training from international leaders in her field.
In addition to treating patients at her practice, Dr. Zaghiyan holds several positions at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, including associate professor of surgery, associate program director of the colorectal surgery fellowship, and director of the colorectal cancer program and Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Zaghiyan has also lectured nationally and internationally at surgical conferences and authored pieces in the most highly respected peer-reviewed medical journals.
