Nosakhare Tongo, MD is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He treats adults 18 years and above with a specialty in kidney related issues and hypertension. Dr. Tongo believes in practicing compassionate care involving an evidence-based approach to treatment and management, with a focus on obtaining a detailed patient's clinical history. He places a high emphasis on preventive medicine and healthy lifestyle with involvement of patients in their care.

Dr. Tongo believes in earning the trust of his patients by demonstrating to them that he truly cares about their health. This begins with treating them with value as a person and not just as another medical case. Dr. Tongo knows from experience that when a patient trusts you it’s easier to work with them to manage their condition, often obtaining a better outcome.

Dr. Tongo has many areas of clinical interest, including adult and preventive medicine, hypertension, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, fluid and electrolyte management, acid-based disorder, cystic kidney disease, geriatric nephrology, end-stage kidney disease and hemodialysis.

"I decided to enter health care as a result of the inspiration I received from the compassion of my childhood pediatrician and also my intrigue with the complexity of the human body,” say Dr. Tongo.

When he is not working with his patients, Dr. Tongo enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is also a volunteer Pastor in Charge at Christ Embassy in Queens.
