I'm actually an advocate of not refinishing when possible. I have to professionally clean the tub regardless to start with. Lots of times people are thrilled with the results of just the cleaning. Saving them money too! Naturally if its a color issue refinishing is a good option as apposed to replacing it or covering it with a plastic liner which both of which cost lots more then professionally refinishing the tub.
I highly don't recommend the DIY kits. They will end up costing you even more money when it fails and, needs to be stripped off.
