Very Nice.......BUT

This is a great place for some very enjoyable ( Live Music ) I do find that getting a drink can take quite to long time though.

The Blue Martini does offer a very relaxing place to listen to some great music. The crowds are very nice and friendly.

I did find that the Martini had a very small staff and keeping the tables clean seem to be a problem. If you can over look this and want some great music then this is your place.... Right behind the Rhio Room....Look for the Blue Martini light.... and enjoy

The Blue Martini is a nice place to go for a more mellow, quiet night. The crowd tends to be a little older and better dressed than some of the other bars in town. Service was really slow last time we went and it took a long time to get the bartender's attention, let alone get the drinks. The bartender also seemed to be unfamiliar with many of the drinks and had to consult recipe cards for everything we ordered. This bar is also on the more expensive side. The live music was great, though, and we had a good time.

A Class Act

I was impressed with the quite, zen atmosphere, along with the smooth listening of jazz. Even the band members were well dressed and classy looking. The owner is very friendly and the bartenders are quite knowledgable in their drinks. It is a non-smoking facility, which is a nice break from some of the other places. You can actually have a conversation with the person next to you without shouting. I would highly recommend this night club for dates, friendly get-togethers, and out-of-town business drinks. The seating is also a plus, with tables and chairs or couches and coffee-tables. There is even a wonderfully open patio with intimate seating just outside, if you do smoke or would like some fresh night air.

keeping the jazz scene alive in cola

Columbia has always had a jazz scene, and this place is part of it. Come here to enjoy the atmosphere and savor the music. You can get comfortable, but get drunk somewhere else first.

The other reviewers are spot-on about how fab the seating is, and how slow the service is. When I was there in July '09, I saw 2-3 waitresses waiting tables, but they were behind the bar making their own martinis. A bartender or two must have called in sick that (Friday) night.

While the drinks were over-priced, some of them, like the 'Blue Valium' were nothing but booze. Kinda how I like my martini, actually.

I also had a rum/pineapple/coconut 'tini that may have been sitting near the rum bottle, but didn't actually have any rum in it.

I've been there three times, and will certainly go again. Until the service gets better and they have prices on the menu, I'm docking a couple stars. Otherwise it would be a full 5 stars.
