Dr. Thomas R. Wieters is an experienced Vein Specialist, a General and Vascular Surgeon, and long-regarded as a patient advocate for quality patient care. Dr. Wieters remains dedicated to the treatment of venous disease ranging from varicose and spider veins to venous ulcerations at his private practice, The Vein Center, conveniently located in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
Dr. Wieters is a native Charlestonian. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and the Medical University of South Carolina, where he also completed a residency in General and Vascular Surgery.
With the advent of minimally invasive techniques, he became aware that patients with varicose veins and vein related problems deserve not only a physician, but an entire practice devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of their vein-related problems.
Dr. Wieters was the first physician in South Carolina to utilize radiofrequency ablation, VNUS Closure™, now known as ClosureFast™, to treat venous insufficiency and varicose veins. Since then, he has successfully completed thousands of endovenous thermal ablation procedures.
As a member of the American Vein and Lymphatic Society, he continues to focus on continually evolving advancements in the minimally invasive technology utilized to treat vein-related concerns.
