Donna Hunt Design

Donna Hunt received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with distinction in 1984 from San Jose State University. The concentration of her work was in the areas of oil painting, graphite drawing and glass sculpture. Donna has worked full-time in major glass art studios throughout the San Francisco Bay Area where she developed an expertise in carving glass utilizing a sandblasting technique. She has been involved in the design and fabrication of large-scale architectural glass installations in collaboration with other glass studios in the area and has also produced traditional oil paintings and graphite drawings for gallery display. In 1999, Donna opened her own studio in Woodside, California. A new series of painted, fused and slumped art pieces emerged as a result. Today, Donna is producing glass bowls, sculptures and large mural-like panels utilizing techniques from both oil painting and glass fabrication. Multiple layers of semi-transparent glass paint, interwoven with other materials, are captured in between layers of stacked glass. The result is then fused and slumped into its final shape in a kiln. Each piece of one of a kind glass has a number of built-up passages illustrating personal sensitivities with the use of resonant color and glass.
