Craig was raised in Pasadena. Craig married Paula, in 1977, after attending Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

His passion for cars is what brought him into the auto industry in 1977. His experience began with Giles Volkswagon-Volvo. He managed the fleet & lease department at Dutch Holland Oldsmobile, winning several awards for excellence in his field. In 1982, Craig joined Ron Craft Chevrolet, where he became General Sales Manager. Craig credits Ron Craft for his positive influence, & for sharing his valuable knowledge & experience in the automotive business. In 1983 Craig & Paula along with a partner, started Gulf Coast Wholesale, in South Houston. After a few years it was time to go on their own way. In November of 1986, Durrett Motor Company opened for business. Since then, the company has grown to become a trusted name among all Houston used car dealers.

Paula is active in many local professional groups such as the Association of Business & Professional Women. She is also a founding member of SEEN; the Southeast Express Network of the national organization ABWA (American Business Women’s Association). Her passion is volunteering for the Bridge Over Troubled Waters, a multifaceted crisis intervention agency that offers transitional & residential housing to families fleeing from domestic violence &/or sexual assault.
