Ben Mandel, DDS

Ben Mandel, DDS, of La Mesa, California, and serving the El Cajon and Spring Valley communities, received his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley, then started to follow in his father’s footsteps toward a Ph.D. in chemistry. Switching disciplines to dentistry, Dr. Mandel resumed studies at New York University College of Dentistry in New York City.
After receiving his degree, Dr. Mandel stayed on at NYU, mentoring fellow students as he pursued graduate studies in orthodontics and periodontics surgery. After serving a dental residency with the Veterans Administration Medical Center at Martinez, California, Dr. Mandel moved to private practice, first in Santa Clara, California, and later in his native San Diego area, after he and his wife moved back.
Building on his curiosity about health and science, Dr. Mandel discovered his enjoyment of the cosmetic aspects of dentistry, and in particular, being able to provide comprehensive services to his patients that not only restore function and appearance, but also consider each patient’s overall well-being. Dr. Mandel continues to upgrade his skills and knowledge as the field of dentistry evolves.
Beyond dental procedures themselves, Dr. Mandel recognizes the practical aspects of receiving dental care, so he is ably assisted by a caring, well-trained staff who helps ensure your comfort during your visits. The staff can also help you navigate through insurance paperwork and a variety of finance plans for your convenience.
Dr. Mandel personally performs your examination, including assessment of dental imaging, and he explains to you his findings and recommendations. The goal of Dr. Mandel’s practice is to become your partner in oral health, offering the best modern dentistry has to offer.
An avid painter, gardener, and old car enthusiast, Dr. Mandel enjoys time away from the office with his wife and two sons.
