Comprehensive Family Services (CFS)

Since its inception, Comprehensive Family Services (CFS) has had the privilege of providing the highest professional forensic and therapeutic services to thousands of children and families in the New York City area. CFS has highly trained and experienced social workers who specialize in a spectrum of services regarding the most sensitive and intimate areas of family life including, but not limited to neglect and abuse; adoption; juvenile delinquency; custody and visitation/access; PINS matters and mediation. CFS maintains three major areas of service: forensic, therapeutic and mediation, though it often works in multiple capacities and in interdisciplinary fashion as part of a continuum.

CFS was founded by its director, Richard Spitzer. In 1993 Mr. Spitzer began his tenure as a forensic social worker with The Legal Aid Society, Juvenile Rights Division. His career expanded when he commenced his private practice in 1998. The private practice ultimately became Comprehensive Family Services, Inc. in 2000. Mr. Spitzer is a recognized and well respected expert in the field whose services, including Guardian ad Litem, Parenting Coordinator and Forensic Evaluator have for over a decade been sought by private individuals, members of the BAR and Matrimonial, Supreme and Family Courts in the New York City area.

CFS has a full range of qualified staff including Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Masters of Social Work, students paraprofessionals and nannies. CFS staff is reliable and has various areas of expertise including a bilingual Spanish-speaking staff. Different levels of staff meets the unique needs of families and keeps costs to clients and Courts down. CFS staff is highly trained and supervised. We have access to and collegial relationships with psychologists, psychiatrists and other community resources.
