Wu Mei Gongfu

Located in Studio Maestro! Wu Mei Gongfu is the internal martial art founded by the legendary Ming Dynasty Buddhist nun Wu Mei. Brought out of the monastery and to this country by one of the greatest martial artists of the 20th century, Grandmaster Xia Peng, Wu Mei is a comprehensive health and longevity practice, a powerful system of self-defense, and a profound spiritual discipline. Practices include rigorous physical training for strength, flexibility and coordination, specialized breath training for the development of qi energy, and Chan meditation to cultivate clarity of mind.

Sifu David Berman teaches Wu Mei Gongfu in the traditional manner: training is ongoing, with no sense of "semester", and with new students entering the class at any time; all students, beginners through advanced players, study together, and instruction is given on an individual basis, depending on the needs of each student; there are no colored belts, no testing, no ranking, and students are encouraged to view their gongfu not as an accomplishment, but as an ongoing process that will continue to benefit them as long as they continue to train.
