In 1975, Chateau of Spain was born by a group of local investors looking to build on the growing Spanish and Portuguese presence in the city. In 1989, Bill Oliveira and Joe Conceicao purchased the restaurant, bringing their past restaurant experience into creating a mainstay of Spanish and Portuguese cuisine in downtown Newark. Family-owned and operated, Chateau of Spain continues to provide a friendly ambiance unmatched in other Newark restaurants, from the first-floor bar area to our fine dining hall, with catering for up to 120 guests.
