Founded in 1985 by Dr. Donna Housman, a clinical psychologist and Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine, Beginnings School welcomes children from 3 months to 6 years old to benefit from its unique ECSEL curriculum – enhancing emotional and cognitive development through play, relationships and hands-on in-the-moment learning.
Beginnings is the only school in the country that uses the ECSEL method, an innovative curriculum developed by Dr. Donna Housman, based on emotional foundations of learning and cognition. The Emotional, Cognitive, Social Early Learning (ECSEL) curriculum is grounded in research showing that children who learn the building blocks of emotional intelligence between ages 0-3 are much more likely to succeed academically, socially, personally and professionally throughout their lifetimes.
