Charles Michael Platz, MD

Dr. Platz completed his undergraduate education at Grinnell College, pursued medical school at the University of Iowa College of Medicine, and followed this with a surgical internship at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. He completed his training at Community Health Network's Family Medicine Residency Program, and has been in practice since 1991. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, is board certified in family medicine and is a clinical faculty member at Community Health Network, Marion University and the IU School of Medicine. He also provides leadership to Community Health Network in the areas of opioid stewardship and the treatment of substance use disorders.

In his career, he enjoys the opportunity to help people with understanding as well as medical care. He feels Dr. Ernst Wunder’s view that medicine “should be the function to help people die young as late in life as possible” helps physicians manage illness in a way that promotes a good life.

In his spare time, Dr. Platz enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren, taking walks with his wife and their dogs, and traveling to places with no cell phone reception.
