Chad E Smith, MD

Chad Smith, M.D., is an orthopedic surgeon with Norton Orthopedic Institute and Norton Sports Health. Norton Healthcare is the official health care provider of the Louisville Cardinals and Dr. Smith serves as the head team physician for University of Louisville football.
Dr. Smith grew up in Oldham County, Kentucky, outside of Louisville. He received both his undergraduate and medical degree from the University of Louisville.
Dr. Smith completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Toledo Medical Center as well as a sports medicine fellowship at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Dr. Smith joined Norton Sports Health and Norton Orthopedic Institute as an orthopedic surgeon in 2017. He has served as the team physician for numerous high schools in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky for over a decade.  Dr. Smith treats patients of all ages and activity levels, providing comprehensive, quality care through a variety of surgical and non-operative treatment options.  He has advanced training and expertise in arthroscopic management of the knee and shoulder and performs knee replacement surgery.
