I chose to become a Care Manager Social Worker with UNC Health for many reasons. Not only does UNC have an impeccable reputation for providing excellent care, but it was clear that every member of staff in the clinic is passionate about providing accessible, patient-centered, and attuned care for the diverse communities that UNC Health serves. This passion and devotion to providing excellent care is palpable throughout the organization and aligns with my own. In addition, with my 16+ years of working with children and families and being a Registered Play Therapist for the past six years, I felt that so many of my own skills and talents were a perfect fit for the needs and wishes of the organization. The work environment was so welcoming, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I care deeply about helping children and families from all walks of life increase their well-being and improve functioning based on their own wishes, needs and goals. I am client-centered and work in partnership with clients to improve their situations, through therapy or through helping clients access resources. I believe that every person has gifts, talents, and skills. By noticing and valuing those skills and talents, we can help people blossom. My areas of special interest are play therapy, sand tray, working with children and adolescents into young adulthood and their families. Outside of work, I love to create stained glass and other forms of glass art. I also love to soul line-dance, swim, do water aerobics, travel, and wander the lovely parks all around the area.
