He attended John Carroll University (Cleveland) for his undergraduate studies and attended medical school at The Medical University of Ohio. He completed an internship at The Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at The King/Drew Medical Center, affiliated with U.C.L.A., in Los Angeles. He subsequently returned to The Henry Ford Hospital where he completed a Fellowship in medical and. surgical management of diseases of the vitreous and retina.
