I like to say that I was destined to be a midwife from birth, since midwifery has been a part of life from a very young age. My mother has been practicing as a midwife for over 25 years and my grandmother also worked as a midwife in my home country of Guyana before moving to the States. I was drawn to the field of midwifery because of my passion for the advocacy of women’s rights, my love for education, and my desire to reduce the unfortunate health care disparities amongst women and babies of color. When I am not providing respectful, individualized, and compassionate care, I love spending time with my family. I especially enjoy exploring the outdoors with my two boys, traveling while immersing into new cultures, cooking delicious meals, and family dance parties.
