Nicholas A. La Gamma, MD, FACS, FASCRS is board certified in both general surgery and colon and rectal surgery. He has trained at world-renowned institutions, including New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.Dr. La Gamma provides a full range of consultative, diagnostic and therapeutic services involving surgery for patients with diseases of the small bowel, colon, rectum and anus.Dr. La Gamma has a major interest in minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of colon and rectal diseases. These modalities include laparoscopic and robotic surgery.Dr. La Gamma uses the most advanced technology, including the da Vinci robot, to provide state-of-the-art treatments to the benefit of his patients. Dr. La Gamma also performs colonoscopies in his office where his courteous staff helps to make the process run efficiently and smoothly.Dr. La Gamma's expertise encompasses the management of colon cancer, rectal cancer, anal cancer, diverticulitis, familial polyposis (FAP), chronic ulcerative colitis (UC), Crohn's disease (CD), Irritable bowel Disease (IBD), ileoanal reservoir (J-pouch), colon polyps, rectal prolapse, anorectal abscess, fistulas, fissures and hemorrhoids. As an assistant professor of surgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, as well as the associate program director of the colon and rectal surgery fellowship at North Shore University Hospital, he is helping to pass on his skill and expertise to future generations of surgeons.
