Shams Abdus Shakil, MD, PhD

Shams Shakil, MD, PhD, MS, is an attending physician based at the R.J. Zuckerberg Cancer Center where he specializes in the treatment of patients with benign and malignant hematologic conditions. Board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology, Dr. Shakil is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Shakil maintains an active medical practice focusing on compassionate, personalized, evidence-based multi-disciplinary care. He earned his medical degree from Chittagong Medical College in Bangladesh, his PhD from Hiroshima University School of Medicine and his MS in Medical Informatics from the Oregon Health and Science University. His fellowship in Hematology/Oncology was completed at Brookdale University Hospital Center. Dr. Shakil has a research background in both surgical oncology and radiation oncology. He is an active member of the American Society of Hematology.
