WEX Pharmaceuticals Inc. is a late-stage drug development company in Vancouver, Canada dedicated to the research, development, manufacture, and commercialization of Halneuron®, a novel non-opioid analgesic.
Halneuron® is a highly selective sodium channel blocker and represents a breakthrough in painkiller technology: Non-addictive, no withdrawal symptoms and no euphoria; no build of up of tolerance over time; a long duration of pain relief with minimal side effects; safe for human use and tested in over 600 people to date. Halneuron’s active pharmaceutical ingredient is Tetrodotoxin (TTX), a small molecule known to block voltage-gated sodium channels on neurons and prevents pain by inhibiting the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses in the peripheral nervous system which is associated with pain.
Halneuron® is currently being tested in a Phase 2 clinical trial and preparing for Phase 3 clinical trials to treat moderate-to-severe chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain, and concurrently being tested in other pain indications.
