Oikos (oΐkoς) n. – Ancient Greek: Term used to refer to the basic unit of society, the Family. Traditionally, anyone who spent quality, face-to-face time with a family – was considered a member of the oikos. In Greek society today, oikos includes those who interact with each other socially for several hours each week – especially through face-to-face contact and conversation.
