Joseph Weiland, DO

A Newport Beach native, Dr. Weiland attended Corona del Mar High School and is committed to serving the health care needs of his local community. Dr. Weiland is especially proud to be a member of Hoag Medical Group, and has high regard for Hoag. In fact, it was a critical family experience at Hoag which first served as his inspiration to pursue a career in medicine.Dr. Weiland enjoys family medicine and getting to know his patients and their health care challenges and goals. He is passionate about preventative medicine, and seeks to assess health issues and mitigate health risks, before problems occur. He knows the importance of continuity of care, and strives to earn the trust of each patient, and by doing so, serve as the patient's physician for life. According to Dr. Weiland, I treat each patient like a member of my family, and do my best to provide prompt and polite service, a receptive ear, and the best care possible.Dr. Weiland studied biochemistry at the University of California at Santa Barbara, attended medical school at the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, and completed his residency in family medicine at College Medical Center in Long Beach. He is a life-long learner, and realizes that in the constantly evolving field of medicine, there will always be newly discovered knowledge to learn, and emerging treatments, therapies and technologies to master.A husband and father to two young boys, Dr. Weiland leads an active and healthy lifestyle, and enjoys surfing, mountain biking, and running.
