Hong Shune, MD

Dr. Shune, who grew up in China, is passionate about treating aging patients, who she believes need to be treated as a special group, with an emphasis on quality of life, lifestyle education, and comprehensive evaluations.My job is to motivate my patients to be in their very best health and function, she says.Dr. Shune comes to Hoag Medical Group from University of California, San Diego, where she was an assistant clinical professor, and also from San Diego Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she worked in general internal medicine/geriatrics at the Oceanside clinic.She says she is very proud to be part of the new team at Hoag and is excited to help create something very special for the community.Dr. Shune earned her medical degree from Harbin Medical University in China and served her residency in internal medicine at Wayne State University in Michigan, where she also completed a fellowship in geriatrics.A resident of Irvine, Dr. Shune's son is studying to be a doctor, and her teenage daughter is a pianist attending Orange County School of the Arts.
