Son Nguyen, MD

Dr. Nguyen was a Boy Scout during his childhood years and fondly recalls earning his merit badge for first aid. It was this initial experience that sparked his interest in medicine and furthered by the exposure to his physician uncle, it solidified his decision to pursue a career as a physician.Practicing since 1988, Dr. Nguyen chose to specialize in internal medicine as it provides him the opportunity to care for his patients inside and out. He is focused on providing comprehensive care and takes great pride in working with his patients.Dr. Nguyen decided to join Hoag Medical Group to ensure his patients have access to the best care and the best hospital, Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. He finds it extremely rewarding to have a positive impact on the lives of his patients and enjoys his daily interactions with them to ensure they are meeting their health goals. As he states it best, It feels good when I can help my patients and it is rewarding to save lives.Fluent in Vietnamese, Dr. Nguyen attended University of California, Irvine where he received his medical degree as well as completed his Internal Medicine residency.During his time outside of the office, Dr. Nguyen enjoys passing of his knowledge to the next generation. He achieves this through volunteer work with medical missions and overseas trips to Vietnam to conduct medical teaching. He also enjoys his role as choir director for his local church.
