Vijay Karia, MD

Dedicated and caring – these two words describe Dr. Karia. He views medicine as an interesting career and a rewarding opportunity to help patients improve their quality of life.

Practicing rheumatology for over a decade, one of Dr. Karia’s primary goals is to allow patients to feel the best they can in order to help them reach their potential in exercise and vitality. As he says, “I enjoy learning about my patients and consider it a privilege to be their rheumatologist.”

Board certified in both internal medicine and rheumatology, Dr. Karia specializes in general rheumatology which includes the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren’s syndrome and a variety of auto-immune conditions. He chose to specialize in rheumatology as it allows him the opportunity to treat interesting conditions while also working in the lab and publishing in professional journals.

During his undergraduate years at the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Karia was a member of the crew team and completed a study abroad program in Mexico. Dr. Karia attended St. George’s University where he received his medical degree. Internal medicine training continued at Michigan State University. Dr. Karia completed his rheumatology fellowship at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans.

When he is away from the office, Dr. Karia enjoys tennis, cycling and adventure travel.
