Erica Benvenutti, MD BSN RN

Having family members with Type 1 Diabetes and Rheumatoid Arthritis impacts Dr. Erica Benvenutti’s approach to treating her patients. She combines her philosophy and approach - holistic personalized quality care - with a bedside manner that resembles caring for her family members. So basically, she’s a perfect fit for Family Health West and as a caregiver in the FHW Arthritis & Rheumatology Clinic.

For more than a decade, Dr. Benvenutti has been training the next generation of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine physicians and treating patients for autoimmune, arthritis, renal diseases, inflammatory related health challenges and more. Coming to Western Colorado as one of only a small handful of arthritis specialists allows Dr. Benvenutti to serve a large variety of patients and provide patients with a well versed caregiver without extensive travel. We think this is a win-win!

She is a board certified Internal Medicine and Rheumatologist, originating from the great state of Mississippi. She attended the University of Southern Alabama for her undergraduate degree in nursing, followed by medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and internal medicine training at the University of Tennessee/Chattanooga. She completed her Rheumatology Fellowship at the University of Toledo Medical Center.

She has a passion for winter sports, so Colorado is a great fit for Dr. Benvenutti allowing her to ski and snowshoe. She also fills her cup with hikes and doing indoor activities like pilates and working out on the Peloton. Ask her who her favorite Peloton coach is!

Dr. Benvenutt treats pediatric rheumatology patients ages 12 and up.
She treats the following rheumatological conditions: lupus, psoriasis, juvenile RA.
The patient must be previously diagnosed by a pediatric rheumatologist and have a current pediatric rheumatologist.
Dr. Benvenutti is willing to co-manage with the pediatric rheumatologist to alleviate travel inconveniences for the patient/family.
