Dr. Susan Leedy Helsel was born and raised in Greenwood, IN. She obtained her bachelor’s degree and medical degree at the University of South Carolina. She then completed two years of a psychiatry residency at the University of Virginia and a family medicine residency at Community Health Network. Prior to joining Community Physician Network, she served as assistant director of the Community Family Medicine Residency program for 14 years, where she enjoyed both teaching and providing full-spectrum family medical care.
Dr. Helsel enjoys all aspects of family medicine. Her special interests include preventive care for all ages, as well as lifestyle education and promotion.
Dr. Helsel, her husband and their children live in Indianapolis. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, running, biking and gardening. She is also an active volunteer in her local school system.
