Roger Newsom, MD

Dr. Roger Newsom is a cataract surgeon who is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. For over 20 years he has focused on micro­incisional cataract surgery using the most advanced FDA approved intraocular lenses. Currently he implants 3 classes of lenses in cataract surgery which include distance, astigmatism and trifocal/multifocal lenses. Dr. Newsom was one of the first in Tidewater to use the LenSx laser platform for cataract surgery and has performed over 15,000 ocular surgeries. Dr. Newsom also completed a fellowship in eyelid and tear duct surgery at the University of Toronto in 1996 and provides consults on request.
