I became a nurse then a nurse practitioner because I enjoy interacting with people of all ages. I find it rewarding to educate my patients about their health. The most important part of education is showing patients how to stay well. Sometimes people get sick no matter how hard they try to stay well. When that happens, I find it satisfying to alleviate people's distress and make them feel better. Being an advance practice nurse allows me to follow patient care more closely, so regardless of what is needed, education or treatment, I can handle what a patient requires.
